An LED Sun

30.07.2014

The northernmost countries suffer from a significant lack of daylight. During this period, health problems may arise due to the lack of vitamin D from the sun, leading to depression in some people, as well as other problems affecting people’s health and physical wellbeing. Until now, the treatment for these people was to use a powerful luminaire that imitated solar light.

Two architects have now designed and created an artificial sun, made up of thousands of LEDs. The idea of the project is that the sun ‘travels’ through different northern towns.

SUN lighting, the name of the device is very powerful and the colours of the LEDs change in line with the natural colour tones that we see from Earth: bright yellow, orange, red and purple, which gives a feeling of reality as the sun travels from town to town.
